The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for an ambitious Site Engineer, to join a passionate construction team who have a “do it once, do it right” attitude. You will need to be an existing Site Engineer with a demonstrable track record of contributing to the successful delivery of the projects you have worked on.

This role will require you to hit the ground running as we have a full pipeline of work already in place. You will be a key team member working on new projects delivering build-ready land developments for our clients across Auckland and other regions around New Zealand.

As the Site Engineer, you will assist in making sure quality measures on site are in place and help to support the programme delivery. Due to the volume and variety of our work, we require someone who has construction industry experience ideally within land development projects. In this role, you will coordinate subcontractors and site teams to deliver projects according to the scope and contract. You will proactively identify innovative opportunities, action and measure them and report the progress to the Project Manager.

The Site Engineer will embed quality assurance using our quality assurance systems in the site team’s culture ensuring quality documentation, such as construction startup and handover phase documentation are accurately maintained and filed. You will strongly encourage and follow Colquhoun Construction health and safety initiatives across your sites.

In addition to your technical skills, you will have established industry networks, a positive and modern approach to management and a desire to take ownership within a growing business.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in delivering civil, land development, or commercial construction projects in a similar capacity or specialisation.

What you’ll bring to the role to be successful:

• Relevant Civil Engineering qualification.

• Previous experience in Land Development, Civil infrastructure projects, or commercial development.

• Strong organisational and planning skills.

• Passion for and previous history of robust health, safety, environmental, and quality management.

• Help with monthly measures and claims.

• Programming skills.

• Excellent stakeholder management.

• User with Excel and MS Office.

• Subcontractor management.

• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems.

• You will need to be a New Zealand Resident, or currently living and eligible to work in New Zealand to be considered.
