About Us

Colquhoun Construction Limited is a newly established and growing New Zealand Construction Company. The Directors between them have 70+ years in the NZ Construction industry and are both well known for successfully delivering a wide range of multi-disciplined projects with various complexities. We have an opportunity for an ambitious Estimator/QS, who likes having a variety of projects to undertake within the construction industry to join our passionate team.

This is a new role within the business that will allow you to bring your own flavour to the table. You will be required to hit the ground running as we have a full pipeline of work already in place. You will be a key leader working within an exciting environment in the building/civils space.

You will need to be an existing QS/Estimator within the building/civils sector. You will need to be able to provide strong and effective leadership and positively influence the team.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in civil, residential or commercial construction projects in a similar capacity or specialisation. You may also be working for a consultant and be looking for a change of environment.

What you’ll bring to the role to be successful:

  • A relevant QS Qualification with 5 years NZ based QS/Estimating experience or equivalent experience.

  • Experience monitoring and analysing P&L in the construction industry.

  • Tender (bid) management and costs proposal experience.

  • Sound working knowledge of Project Management principles.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation with the civils/ building industry.

  • Experience contributing to day-to-day management and strategic direction of the business.

  • High level of interpersonal client relationship building skills.

  • The ability to read and interpret plans and estimate building, plant, material, and labour costs.

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

  • Advanced user with Excel and MS Office.

  • Experience in negotiating with suppliers and contractors to obtain the best price.

  • Exceptional planning, programming, organisational, and communication skills.

  • Customer-focused and self-motivated.

You will need to be a New Zealand Resident, or currently living and eligible to work in New   Zealand to be considered
